For our fourth consecutive year as a Partner, MUUS Collection is thrilled to return to Paris Photo to debut the exhibit Larry Fink: Sensual Empathy in celebration of our acquisition of the Larry Fink Estate.
Curated by writer Lucy Sante, the exhibition will offer a survey of Fink’s life and work with over 30 photographs spanning his career, as well as incorporating poems and musings from Fink across the walls. One year after the artist’s passing, Larry Fink: Sensual Empathy will pay tribute to one of the great humanist photographers, who described his work as “political, not polemical.”
The exhibition focuses on Fink’s identity as an empathetic photographer; works from Fink’s seminal series Social Graces will be on view, as well as civil rights imagery.
Lucy Sante says: "It was a lot of fun curating this show of Larry's photos. He had a sixty-year career, and explored many different subjects, but the thing that ties his work together is his love for humans as social animals. Not everything is festive in his festivities, but a concise show of Larry's pictures will somehow always feel like one big party."
The exhibition coincides with a new monograph that MUUS Collection was proud to support, titled Larry Fink: Hands On / A Passionate Life of Looking published by powerHouse Books. The 432-page tome is an encapsulation of Fink’s master photos and features an introductory essay by Lucy Sante, who will sign copies of the book during Paris Photo at the L’Artiere stand, Booth F16, onSaturday November 9, from 1:00-2:00 PM CET. As the new custodians of LarryFink’s archive, MUUS is committed to finding opportunities to showcase and promote his incredible body of work, and we are thrilled to bring his luminous photographs to new audiences in Paris.
