In celebration of its 10th anniversary, MUUS Collection presents its inaugural exhibition as a Programming Partner of The Photography Show presented by AIPAD showcasing collection highlights with work from five photographers: André de Dienes, Fred W. McDarrah, Deborah Turbeville, Rosalind Fox Solomon, and Alfred Wertheimer. Highlights from the Archive: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of MUUS Collection explores the themes and interplay between this group of distinct artists, presenting each photographer’s unique interpretation of the classic portrait along with a brief survey of their work.
The steadfast mission of MUUS Collection is to find new ways to showcase and elevate the artists whose archives it has been entrusted with. As an active archive with nearly half a million images and supporting ephemera, over the past decade MUUS has been preserving and promoting significant photographic estates from artists whose work has been historically underappreciated. Through myriad ways, including exhibitions, publications, and donations, MUUS brings these exceptional works to new audiences.
Highlights from the Archive: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of MUUS Collection explores works by MUUS Collection’s major artists whose images capture important moments in our shared artistic and cultural history, inviting viewers to engage with both iconic images and photographs which have been hidden away in archives until now.
The Photography Show will be held at Center415 at 415 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10016 from Friday, March 31 to Sunday April 2, 2023, with the MUUS Collection at Booth 200.
