Face the Music: The Legacy of Music Photography

MUUS Collection is pleased to announce the inclusion of Alfred Wertheimer and Fred W. McDarrah in Fahey/Klein’s exhibition, Face the Music: The Legacy of Music Photography, opening July 25 and running until September 7. The two artists will have their work in concert with other prominent image-makers, including David Bailey, Patrick Demarchelier, Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, and Ernest C. Withers. Spanning generations of musicians and photographers from the 1940’s to today, the exhibition comprises photographs of The Beatles, Billie Holiday, Elvis Presley, Diana Ross, Harry Styles and more.

Wertheimer’s photographs of Elvis at 21 offer a rarely-seen glimpse into Elvis’s ascent to stardom; on view in this exhibition is his photograph of Elvis on his Harley motorcycle, two iconic symbols of Americana. McDarrah’s photograph of Jimi Hendrix captures the magic of live performance from Hendrix’s 1968 show at the Fillmore East in New York City.

Face the Music: The Legacy of Music Photography pays homage to the changemakers in music, and the photographers who captured them. The exhibition reception will take place at Fahey/Klein Gallery at 148 North La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, July 25.
