First presented by MUUS at Paris Photo in 2023, Fred W. McDarrah: Pride and Protest is now on display at The New York Historical. Curated by Marilyn Kushner and Rebecca Klassen, the exhibition expands on the themes first presented in Paris, depicting moments in the history of the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement as captured by Fred W. McDarrah. With more than 60 black-and-white photographs, represented in that history are the Mattachine Society “Sip-In” at Julius’ bar in 1966, the Stonewall Uprising in 1969, and the annual Pride marches that followed. The exhibition is on view until July 13, 2025.
